My name is Leann Richards and I have been writing about Australian Theatre History since the early 2000s when I started to research Houdini's tour of Australia. This led to the development of the website HAT-History of Australian Theatre and the publication of a small book on Houdini.
Since then I have worked as a teacher of English as a second language, appeared on ABC TV, written for several magazines, given a lecture on Houdini, done (unpaid) research for the BBC, and published another book on Australian actress Carrie Moore. In addition the website was listed on PANDORA, Australia's electronic archive.
I've also met a lot of very interesting people including circus historians, magic historians, postcard collectors, jugglers and magazine owners.
I write regularly for various people and places, but I haven't done much in the last few years due to work commitments.
Recently I bit the bullet, and decided to enroll as a PhD candidate. My subject is Australian Juggling History from a performance perspective. I will occasionally share some of my findings here.
I also juggle regularly with the fine jugglers of Sydney Juggling
I live in Sydney, Australia.
